Each year on April 22 the world comes together to celebrate Earth Day, a time when we look beyond our own needs and remember the needs of the Earth. We are nourished by its vegetation, we are protected from harsh UV rays, we are given life through air and water. Simply speaking, we need our planet. And yet, we seem destined to ignore the needs of Earth, its natural environments, living creatures, air, water and atmosphere. We forget our role in contribution to the destruction of all these things.
Come see FARM at this year’s Fairfax VegFest on April 23rd!
Each year at this time we are asking people to think about the impact of food choices to help save our planet. Raising animals for food accelerates global warming, depletes our water resources, poisons our waterways, and destroys forests and other wildlife habitats. In an environmentally sustainable world, we must replace meat and dairy products in our diet with vegetables, fruits, and grains, just as we replace fossil fuels with wind, solar, and other renewable energy sources. You can find out all the ways our habits are contributing to the destruction of Earth as we know it on our Our Planet page. This knowledge offers each of us a unique opportunity to heal our planet by transitioning to plant-based eating.
If you are interested in our message and wish to contribute, we welcome you to Join The Action! Each year we are asking people to help us spread this important message and turn Earth Day into Vegan Earth Day. We have easily shareable memes, infographics, and other resources. Please take a stand with Earth this Vegan Earth Day.
